Yvonne, a 41 year old african bush elephant, had to be put to sleep on thursday afternoon. Born free in Africa in 1967, Yvonne was captured at the age of 2 and brought to my city's zoo where she spent pretty much the rest of her life. After her indian friend Kiri had to be put down in 2007 due to injuries received in a fight; Yvonne, now the only elephant left, had to be relocated to Rostock zoo in july 2008 since female elephants usually live in a family group. She only had less than a year to enjoy the company of 46 year old Sarah but I'm glad she didn' t have to be alone when she died!
You will be missed, sweety, this city won't be the same without you!!! *sniff*
